Herding Dog Breeds

The herding dog breeds belonging to the AKC recognized Herding Group are pretty transparent in their purpose. They like to herd things like cattle, sheep, and yes, even children!

Some are a little more vocal than most, while others may get the job done by nipping or stalking. The picture above shows a sheep dog staring down his minions. Or at least that is the way he sees it!

These intelligent herding dogs generally make very good sidekicks for those in need of a companion that willfully follows commands. This is of course a gross generalization, but most are easily trainable.
