Sporting Dog Breeds

bird dogs

The sporting dog breeds are prolific hunting dogs and bird dogs whose talents range from pointing, retrieving, and flushing out game. Most are very talented in one arena, but some have proven to be versatile hunters no matter the quarry.

All can point, retrieve, and flush out game if properly trained, but some are better than others and may have a natural affinity or instinct.

It is that natural instinct we want to develop and encourage so that they will eagerly spend extended hours in the field. It is the hunter's duty to find a breed that will work as an extension of his own body depending on his hunting style and needs.

A list of sporting breeds can be found below. You can opt to manually click on the links to learn more about the breed, or you can use the search function to find a specific breed throughout the whole site.
