Terrier Dog Breeds
The terrier dog breeds were created in part to hunt down and kill rodents. Oftentimes it was for sport in rat pit killing contests. They are typically broken down into long-legged and short-legged subdivisions.
Terriers have unfortunately also been pitted against each other to fight in illegal dog rings. Despite the negative publicity some of the terrier breeds have endured due to dog fighting, they can, and do make excellent companions. Never let a few bad apples, and by bad apples I mean dog fighters in particular, ruin a good thing for everyone else. Browse the terrier pictures below, and click on the breed names to learn more about them. All the profiles are listed in alphabetical order to keep things organized. You might instead decide to use our in site breed search feature. Any way you want to go about it is fine with me. Have a nice day!
