Toy Dog Breeds The toy dog breeds are small dog breeds that are essentially tiny versions of other existing dogs from groups other than the toy group. There are a few that are so old that no ancestral links to a larger living dog can be found! It is pretty obvious why toy dogs have earned their namesake seeing as they are so tiny. Their popularity is no doubt mostly attributed to their short stature. Who doesn't love a lap dog? Some people love to dress their dogs up, but I think they are cute enough as they are.
